Loft conversions in Bristol

Most Bristol terraces can take a rear dormer without a planning application, which adds a double bedroom and a shower room. We do the drawings, the structural calculations, the party wall notices and the Building Control sign-off.

Rooflight or dormer

A rooflight conversion keeps the roof shape and adds windows in the slope. It’s cheaper and quicker, but you only get full standing height in the middle of the room. A rear dormer squares off the back of the roof, so the room is usable wall to wall and there is space for a shower room.

Staying at home during the build

We build from scaffolding at the back of the house, so for the first five or six weeks the work happens above you without coming through the house. The loft hatch is opened up in about week six, when the staircase goes in, and that is the dusty week.
